After the Normandy in the war, in the Second Tacical Air Force they hunted convoys of Panzer, and broke the back of the Walcheren defences to open up the port of Antwerp.

Pa, Ma, Mary, Laura, Carrie and baby Grace moves from the House on Plum Creek to the prairies, where a railway is being built. Pa works as a bookkeeper for the railway company, Ma and the children keeps the shanty. When winter comes they spend it in a railway house next to the lake. In the spring they see the town spring up from the empty prairie before they move out to their homestead.
