Typhoon Pilot by Douglas Scott

First-hand account of a Battle of Britain suvivor who went on to command squadrons and wings of Hawker Typhoon aircraft, hunting E-boats and locos. After the Normandy in the war, in the Second Tacical Air Force they hunted convoys of Panzer, and broke the back of the Walcheren defences to open up the port of Antwerp.

The House by Silver Lake by Laura Ingalls Wilder

Pa, Ma, Mary, Laura, Carrie and baby Grace moves from the House on Plum Creek to the prairies, where a railway is being built. Pa works as a bookkeeper for the railway company, Ma and the children keeps the shanty. When winter comes they spend it in a railway house next to the lake. In the spring they see the town spring up from the empty prairie before they move out to their homestead.
