13 Great Stories of Science-Fiction edited by Groff Conklin

It was interesting to read a collection of science fiction stories from before the moon landing.

The stories that caught my attention:

  • The War is Over is an important message that needs to be transmitted in Algys Budrys's story. What better way to make sure a message gets through than by giving it the urgency of life?
  • Silence Please is an interesting and funny little story by Arthur C Clarke that explores what might happen if sound could be deadened.
  • In The Analogues the spectre of mind control is raised by Damon Knight, and after a promise of relief, not laid to rest at all.
  • Theodore Sturgeon highlights the power of good communication and willing collaboration in The Skills of Xanadu
