Daddy-Long-Legs by Jean Webster

This is a delightful book, still alive after more than a century. Jerusha Abbot gets too old for the orphanage, and is sent to college by an anonymous benefactor — whom she calls Daddy-long-legs. The book consists of the letters she writes to him; in them the story unfolds, merrily, sadly, deeply, but always scintillating.
